What is Impaling in Minecraft

You can’t survive Minecraft with tools alone, especially if you want to up your game and kill mobs faster than they could kill you.

If you are in a body of water and would want to equip yourself with the right tool for protection, you would choose the Trident. However, having a trident doesn’t guarantee your safety and that you can kill mobs more efficiently. So, to solve this problem, I would advise you to use enchantments that would help you increase the trident’s damage towards the enemies.

To be able to do this, you should know about the 4 enchantments that you could use when you are playing: 1) Loyalty, 2) Riptide, 3) Channeling, 4) Impaling, 5) Curse of Vanishing, 6) Mending, and 7) Unbreaking.

This article will focus on the Impaling enchantment, so if you are interested in using it, this article is for you!

How the impaling enchantment works in Minecraft

Impaling enchantment was first seen in the 1.13 Aquatic update in Minecraft. This went with the trident weapon, and consequently, you can only apply this enchantment on tridents.

All other enchantments for tridents have different uses, but how impaling enchantment works is it increases the damage of your attack to sea mobs.

How do I get the impaling enchantment?

Impaling enchantment is pretty handy, especially if you are dealing with a lot of sea mobs. You will be able to efficiently attack them because impaling enchantment makes your attacks more powerful and it almost halves the number of hits that you would need to kill them.

If this is your first time to use the impaling enchantment, remember that this enchantment can only be used in tridents. You can access it from the enchantment table, from a loot chest, from an enchantment book, from an anvil and an impaling enchantment book or from the librarian of the village.

How do I equip my trident with impaling enchantment?

To equip your trident with impaling enchantment, you should

1.Put a trident and a lapiz lazuli in your enchanting table.

2. The enchantments available for your level will then appear on the right portion of the enchanting table, and click on Impaling.

3. Once you’re done, you can save it in your inventory for future use.

Impaling tridents vs aquatic mobs

The impaling enchantment works great in inflicting more damage to aquatic mobs. The usual trident weapon can only give 9 damage (4 ½ hearts). If an impaling enchantment is used, an additional damage of 2.5 (1 ¼ heart).

The aquatic mobs that you can kill using your enchanted trident are the drowned, squids, fishes, turtles, guardians, and the elder guardians.

The drowned are considered to be one of the aquatic mobs since you can find them underwater. With the drowned, if you are using a regular trident, you can kill it with 3 hits. If you use the impaling trident as your weapon, it will only take 2 hits for it to die.

For the squid, if you are using a regular trident, you can kill it with 2 hits. If you use the impaling trident as your weapon, it will only take 1 hit.

For the fish, if you are using a regular trident, you can kill it with 2 hits. If you use the impaling trident as your weapon, it will only take 1 hit for it to die.

For the sea turtle, if you are using a regular trident, you can kill it with 4 hits. If you use the impaling trident as your weapon, it will only take 2 hits for it to die.

For dolphins, if you are using a regular trident, you can kill it with 2 hits. If you use the impaling trident as your weapon, it will only take 1 hit for it to die.

For the guardian, if you are using a regular trident, you can kill it with 4 hits. If you use the impaling trident as your weapon, it will only take 2 hits for it to die.

For the elder guardian, which is the trickiest enemy to kill amongst all aquatic mobs, if you are using a regular trident, you can kill it with 10 hits. If you use the impaling trident as your weapon, it will only take 4 hits for it to die.

Impaling enchantment in Bedrock vs Java

The cool thing about the impaling enchantment in Bedrock from the one that is available in Java is that in Bedrock, the damage that it can give can affect all mobs. If you are playing Minecraft in Java (with an exception to the Jave Edition Combat Test 4 version), impaling will only work on aquatic mobs.

Conclusion

A trident on its own could not really help you to save your life if you are about to fight aquatic mobs in Minecraft. However, if you use the impaling enchantment on your trident, there is a higher chance that you can end up winning this game.
